Title A name given to the resource Les affiches de Marc Chagall Subject The topic of the resource La sous-collection « Les affiches de Chagall » comprend des archives liées à la conception de l’ouvrage Les affiches de Marc Chagall.  Description An account of the resource Nous présentons ici quelques éléments du dossier de fabrication de l’ouvrage Les Affiches de Chagall, issus du fonds Jean-Gérard Bosio. La sous-collection « Les affiches de Marc Chagall » contient différentes versions de la préface (rédigée à l’été 1975 par Senghor) et de l’introduction de Gérard Bosio. Le dossier contient également des lettres échangées entre Bosio et L.S. Senghor concernant les modifications et corrections. La préface de L. S. Senghor ne constitue pas le premier texte dans lequel il s’essaie à la critique d’art. Il commente en effet régulièrement l’œuvre des grands artistes, en particulier ceux de l’École de Paris qu’il affectionne, comme Soulages en 1958 dans la revue Les Lettres nouvelles. Ses analyses suivent souvent le même schéma. Il analyse d’abord l’œuvre de l’artiste à l’aune de son ethnie (Chagall est ainsi décrit comme « sémite », « juif »), puis il décrit les apports extérieurs, les « influences sociales », et enfin, il cherche à souligner les affinités de ces œuvres et de « l’art nègre ». L’ensemble reflète les préoccupations pour Senghor d’un métissage culturel, celui de la civilisation de l’Universel.
