We have duly received your letter of the 29th ultimo and are very pleased to say that Mr. Matsukata instructs us to pay you 10,000 francs. He greatly apologises for not having instructed us to do so before as he was so busy since the earthquake. We shall therefore be remitting you 10,000 francs in the course of a day or so.
