Dear Sir,
I received your check, original and duplicata, which amounts to the sum of 44,000 francs. My last letter gave you the detail of the purchases amounting to 47,000 francs. You have taken from this sum the 3,000 francs which were asked as an account by Mr Baertsoen. But this sum of 3?000 fr must not be taken from these 47,000 fr of which determinate destination I gave you the detail, but from a sum of 16,000 francs which is indebted by Mr. Matsukata to Mr. Baertsoen for the purchase of two of his pictures
I shall be very much obliged to you to send me the 3,000 francs which must complete the sum asked for in my last letter, as soon as you can.
Believe me, dear Sir, your very sincerely
Léonce Bénédite
Au crayon à papier : Je vous enverrai le reçu définitif (f(illisible) receipt) en double, dès que j’aurai reçu les 3000 fr complétant la somme de 47,000.
