We are duly in receipt of your letter dated 17th instant enclosing receipt in duplicate for our remittance for the sum of Frs 44,190 being the cost of pictures bought for Mr. Matsukata for which we thank you.

Further to your letter, we are pleased to send you cheque for 25000 francs for the pictures by Leon Thermitte [Lhermitte] “The Gleaners” and “Maternity” which you kindly acquired for the account of Mr. Matsukata. Kindly acknowledge receipt of the above and let us have formal receipt in duplicate at your earliest convenience
