Dear Sir,

We are in receipt of your letter dated 30th October with reference to Mr Matsukata’s purchase of Art Works, requesting us to remit 5000 francs for the various expenses in connection with two panels by Jean Charles Cazin and also 15 000 francs being the balance of two pictures bought from M. Gilbert Baertsoen.

We shall much be obliged if you will kindly furnish us with the details of various expenses of 5000 francs so that we may be able to inform Mr. Matsukata and let him judge whether it is reasonable.

As to the balance of 15000 francs we are rather in doubt why such a big amount of money still remains unsettled for such a long time as beginning of January 1919 and we have not heard anything from you in this matter. We having a difficulty to trace the records to prove your request as one of our people who used to take charge of this correspondence returned to Japan. Would you kindly let us know the whole matter of the outstanding account when we shall be pleased to remit the money in question.

Yours faithfully

Per pro SUZUKI & Co
