What is Holographical-Lee (HoL)
Holographical-Lee (HoL) aims to give access to Vernon Lee's letters (the letters she wrote and the letters she received), as well as to her 25 notebooks written during the WWI and to some of her autograph manuscripts.
We wish to present these fragile and exclusive autograph documents to our readers. Scans or digital photographs of the original document have been obtained from the Bibliothèque Nationale de France (Manuscrits), the Vernon Lee Archive, Miller Library, Colby College (Maine, USA). We wish to express our heartfelt gratitude for their help.
To these documents, the editor has added her own personal digital photographs of the material housed by the Fonds de dotation André and Berthe Noufflard in Paris, an important archival collection to which our dear friend Geneviève Noufflard (1920-2016) generously guided us, being an active support in this research.
Geneviève Noufflard, whose centenary was celebrated on 23 July 2020, knew Miss Paget (Vernon Lee) in her lifetime. She was the daughter of painters André Noufflard and Berthe Langweil-Noufflard, and her sister was Dr Henriette Noufflard-Guy-Loë. Miss Paget (Vernon Lee) often stayed at her young friends' home from 1925 to 1935.
As Vernon Lee's handwriting tends to be deterring, we offer linear transcriptions of many of them.
