I blush for my ignorance, Dear Berthe, (and maybe for my failing sight) but the truth is that I cannot tell whether this young Vernon is a drawing or a reproduction. If it is the drawing that it aspires to be, I am certain of its welcome with yourself and André; but of it’s a reproduction you will have had your copy for years.

I was so in the habit of seeing this bright girl on the wall of Mary’s bedroom that I always accepted her at her “face value without ever wondering whether she is pure gold or merely gilded!

PS viens de recevoir une bonne nouvelle des Challrxx : Georgette est non seulement reçue à son examen elle passe 3^ème de la Haute Garonne et la première de Toulouse !
