Exhibition presentation

In situ exhibition spanning 600m² on the 5th floor of the Cinémathèque, diving into the universe and oeuvre of filmmaker Gus Van Sant.

It presented over 200 authentic and diverse objects, such as photographs, drawings, watercolours and other artworks by the filmmaker but also archives and film excerpts. It also included his series of Polaroid portraits of famous people, his video installations and his works made in collaboration with artists like Larry Clark or William Eggleston.
The aim was to show a paradoxical, complex, experimental oeuvre that embraces metaphysics and poetry whilst retaining an important political, nonconformist and provocative dimension inherited from the Beat Generation and filming the freedom of youth.
This exhibition was organised over 5 main approaches: Photography; Cinepark; Constellations; Painting; Music.
