Exhibition presentation

In situ exhibition over 600m² around an imaginary dialogue between director Federico Fellini and Spanish painter Pablo Picasso, whom he deeply admired and claimed to have met a number of times in his dreams.

It is composed of over 300 works of which 40 by Picasso. This collection also includes sculptures, paintings, drawings and etchings by the painter but also objects that belonged to Picasso and Fellini, drawings by the director (satires, sketches made on-shoot, indications for production designers, etc.), photographs (namely previously unseen set photography from the film that was meant to stage Picasso, La Mort de Charlotte Corday), posters, model sets, documents and books.
The circuit follows 5 main sections: Ancient Voyages; The Continent of Woman; Dance and Bullfighting; The Circus; Legend in Action.
Without attaching itself to a simply comparative study, the exhibition’s aim was to reveal to the public how devoted the director was to the painter, to explore their respective constructs of the myths of art history, the themes they share, their taste for spectacle and for humour.
