Dear Sir :- I am interested in prepararing a paper, to be read before a literary club, on the Jew in Fiction and Real Life. I have in mind of course, your own work and also occasional character in earlier literature _ Merchant of Venice, Oliver Twist, Ivanhoe – but I find I find very little else, and I venture to ask if you can suggest to me any other writers of fiction who have introduced distinctively Jewish characters, or if you can give me any suggestions of sources of information tending to confirm or to confute their conception of the character of the race ?
I do not expect that you will give me more than such hasty suggestions as may occur to you on th spur of the moment.
Very truly yours,
Relations
