Respected Sir,
I enclosed a valuable « Article » taken from « Harper's Weekly » (a single class. New York Paper) in which the scandalous and infamous manner in which you have been treated by a French Judge, Jury, and Generals in in (sic) the recent Mockery of a Trial, is fully and innanwerably exposed ; such a Travestry of Justice would not be possible in this country or in England ; and, as an Englishman, I take pride in the knowledge that the entire Press of a Free Country like England, has joined in condemnation of the infamous injustice of which you are the victim. With profound expressions of respect, I remain truly yours.
