My dear Sir,
It may perhaps interest you to receive the heartfelt congratulations of an American wage-earner who was followed with great interest your noble, patriotic and self sacrificing course in the great crisis of the French Republic at the late so-called trial.
Famous forever will be the name of Zola in the very highest rank of literary genius. But even more so as a great and patriotic frenchman.
American love the French Republic, but while they love and admire France. They also hate injustice and despotism and respect and love you because you have the manliness, the courage of your honest convictions and dare maintain them against governmental mal-administration, and the senseless howling mobs of Paris. May god speed you in your Patriotic endeavors.
Yours sincerely,
