Emile Zola -
Dear sir :
I beg you will pardon me, but I wish to make a request, which (I sincerely hope) you may grant.
I very much desire your autograph for my collection and for that purpose, I now address you ; If you knew how much I would ??? it, I hardly think you would refuse me ; just your signature, even, would please me immensurably. Please do not regard me as a ??? and please do not disappoint me, will you ?
Very sincerely,
One of your American readers,
